SD round

Just a hair. Back it down just under 1,050fps and you're below the sound barrier - makes a huge difference in noise and won't make any difference in wounding.

My view is, if you're going to cross the sound barrier, do it BIG. My 357 is loaded with 125s that will do almost 1,600fps. If you're gonna do it, DO IT :).

Out of what? The weight of a bullet isn't as important for excessive penetration as its construction. A cast 225 grain bullet won't penetrate as much as a jacketed bullet. Mind you, you are responsible for where any bullet ends up no matter what.

Um, what?

Softcast MIGHT go "squish" inside the target enough to slow them down via bullet expansion. Most jacketed softpoint will too if driven fast enough, and certainly hollowpoints will.

Hardcast lead will punch deeper than anything else, all else being equal.

How does a 225gr. bullet traveling at 1100 ft./sec. at the muzzle sounds for SD? Would it be overkill?

Dead is dead.... And, that round WILL kill whatever you wanted to if you hit it.

But, is it worth it to your shoulder? :D
