I am looking to outfit my 1911 with a pair of faux ivory grips scrimshawed with female nudes. Can any of you recommend an artist or a vendor?

1911 Scrimshaw

Check Ton 80 on gunbroker.com . They carry a lot of scrimshaw. Its The CZ Connection near Atlanta.

You would do this to me, wouldn't you? I was inspired by some of Sherif Jim Wilson's grips I saw in Shooting Times. When I finally get around to becoming a Master Mason, I think I'll have a Square and Compass on some grips for my 1911. Sharp.

Depends on how much you want to spend, if you collect the Double Gun Journal take a look at some of the articles about the Italian firearms engravers like Giancarlo and Stefano Pedretti. I've seen scrimshaw and engraving combos come from some of these Italian makers that will get the heart beating, these are firearms artists that know how to execute the femine form. Aside from that take a look at some of the knife magazines, these are great exhibits for the kind of scrimshaw you looking for and they give lots of names and addresses for your information. Knife makers are more inclined to use scrimshaw than gun stockers and they'll probably be happy to work on pistol grips.
