Scout Scope on M38 Swede Mauser

Man, I am pumped! I have an M38 Swede Mauser that shoots 7 inches high at 50 yards with iron sights. Talked with the folks at B-Square today and lo and behold... they make a scout scope mount that fits right into where the rear sight is installed. Ordered one from Graf and Sons today. Next step is to find a good price on a Leupold 2.5x28mm Scout Scope, and test this set-up with the Speer Nitrex 140 grain factory load. Wish me luck!! :)

You can probably find a higher front sight post for your iron sights. Nevertheless, let us know how your scope mount works out. I vaguely recall some folks not being happy with it.

M1911, from the description the folks at B-square gave me, you are probably right. The scope mount doesn't appear to be one that locks onto the rifle tighter than Dick's hatband. But I like the Swede, and would like to hunt at ranges farther than iron sights allow with my current set of eyeballs... my 30-30 is my hundred yard gun. I will report out on what I learn...

The B-Square mount was easy to install. Fits tighter than a drum. Found a NIB Springfield Armory 2x20 scout scope at Quantico PX for $45. Geesh, what a deal!! The scope is installed and the range trip occurs in a few days. Rifle goes on a deer hunt this Saturday. Will keep you posted. :)

This setup works great! Zeroed the rifle yesterday. First shot 4 inches high and 1 right. Made some adjustments to the scope. Next 6 shots were centered on the bull with both Federal and Remington factory ammo. :-) The scout scope is easy to use. :)

Have never posted pictures; you guys will have to coach me through it; although I supposed there are instructions posted on the FAQ...
