Scout Scope For A Mosin?

I have a 1938 Mosin Nagant M91-30 with a round receiver and I want to put a scout scope on it by myself.

Has anyone done this? How did you do it and what did you use?

I've heard the rear iron sight can be removed and scope rings mounted there.

I'm looking at buying this scope and these rings. Anybody had any experience with this product, this brand, or this online seller?

Yes the rear sight can be removed and a 3/8 dovetail base will be exposed but I recommend getting a 3/8 dovetail to weaver mount adapter. Install the adapter on the dovetail in the barrel but watch for slippage. Some of the dovetails are slightly tapered. Sportsmans guide sells a really good adapter with full surface contact on the dovetail, less chance of movement. The ring simply won't hold tight enough by themselves to prevent slippage, I found this out the hard way at a competition! I use it and an NcStar 3x7 scout scope and it works great! I hope this helps.:)

I just did the side-mount PU conversion like you're supposed to...

I personally haven't tried the scout configuration on the Mosin, but it seems to work. Just remember to use Loctite. :)

Ya gotta take the rear sight off to do it.

Which I'm trying to do right now.

There's only one pin and I got it out, but the sight doesn't want to move.
