SCOTUS grants stay of recounts in Florida!

SCOTUS will hear arguments on Monday. Four justices dissented in the stay ruling, so it's close folks.

All recounting will stop pending the outcome of the hearing.

With the Dec. 12 deadline, there is no way the votes can be recounted in time...No matter which way the SCOTUS rules.

The Florida legislature is due to reconviene on Monday. They will probably select their own electors at this point, contingent upon a ruling by SCOTUS, so as not to lose their voice in the college.

Can't see any other way this will play out.

I also think it will come down to the US Congress to select the next president.

Please note: History is a fine thing to read about, it just ain't fun to be part of it!

Thank God for the voice of reason. The FL Supreme Court went off the deep end this time. I hope they get slapped hard for it. This legislating from the judicial bench must be stopped. I found out today that SC justices in Florida must be retained by a vote of the people every so often. Someone please post the names the four justices were that came up with this off the wall ruling. Remember their names, Floridians. Kick the bums off next time they are on the ballot. Let's see if they get a manual recount then :).

I was very sorry to see the SCOTUS rule this way….. 5 to 4…. Conservatives against liberals with the moderates breaking the tie….. This casts a shadow of doubt on their decision. Was not their decision partisan as have been most of the courts opinions in this disaster? More important it really shows why we have to have GW in the Presidency. With several appointments possible over the next couple of years. Thank goodness for Regan and Bush appointing the conservative justices that we have on there now.

First, let me say it ain't over 'til it's over. At this point it's just a stoppage of the count, not a reversal of Florida'a SC. I am not smiling, I am not happy, I will not jinx this thing. I vow to hold my jubilation for inauguration day.

That being said...I was in the good company of several thousand other shooters at a large gunshow when today's stay was announced on the PA system. The building erupted in a collective "YESSSSS!" with smiles all around and even some high fives. Ten seconds later the PA system crackled to life again with the request, "Please, no shooting in the air!"
