Scoping a Python

OK, I have decided that the Python with the 8" barrel is not going to be much use as a carry piece, so I have decided to scope it.

I know nothing about scoping a pistol. I plan on using it out to 50-75 yds max, mainly on coyotes and wild dogs/cats.

I want something that is easy to point, yet does not obscure a lot of the target..I am not sure how the red dots work.

So, here is your chance to educate me, so that I can make a reasonably informed decision on what to do with this gun.

thanks

If it's a magnum, I would choose an EER leupold, most likely 2X. In my experience most other scopes don't take the pounding as well. Someone else posted that at one time Freedom Arms was recommending them exclusively on thier pistols. I've had one on my 91/2" 44mag SRH for a couple of years, no problems yet. Personally I've decided not to use variable scopes. My theory: Less parts to break. If I can't hit it with a 2X scope it's time to get out the rifle.
