Hi, I'm new here and want to say i am glad I founde this site.

I have a new S&W 629 light Hunter 44 mag revolver and I want to put a scope on it and I'm looking for suggestions.

I don't care about the price. I just want something that's gonna make my buds want bad but can't afford.

Whats top of the line? laser etc.

Thanks,

Wes

Check out the Bushnell holosight. Very impressive technology, fairly expensive, and seems like it would work well on a handgun.

Minden is the home of Pioneer Village. they don't have a very big gun collection but I think a few collectors would like to have them

the Burris handgun scopes are supposed to handle heavy recoil. I'm going to pick one up for my .454 Casull. Maybe the 3-12 which is alot more than I'll ever need, but the larger magnification will be cool

MY Performance Center 629 Light Hunter has an Ultra Dot 30mm red dot on it.

I have a Super Redhawk with a Leupold two power scope on it (MB-2xEER).

The Ultra Dot is not magnified. It is smaller, lighter, and faster to aquire a sight picture with. If you can live without magnification, it is a better option, i think.

I looked at a lot of information before I purchased the Ultra Dot, and it is regarded as one of the better choices for handgun red dot sights.

I wouldnt buy a sight just for bragging rights....unless those rights were centered around quality and performance.

No sense in buying a Porsch and putting $40 tires on it.

I like the idea of using the Ultra Red Dot, but without magnification AR-10, how does it look when something is 100-200 yards away? or am I missing the magnification thought?

Thanks,

Wes

I have a pair of S&W M629 Classic revolvers (.44 Mag) with Leupold 2X EER scopes/Leupold mounts that have given NO PROBLEMS in nearly 15 years of use. Highly recommended. Hint: DO NOT advise using a scope of more than 2X. Higher power scopes give shorter eye relief, smaller diameter exit pupil (harder to see thru), magnify wobble more, and have smaller field of vision. Primary benefit of scope is putting target and sights in the same focal plane so you can see both sharply at the same time.

Good shooting and be safe.

ps: Buying to impress friends is a very immature approach. Buying quality products that will do the job well and last a long time are much better reasons to choose the Leupold 2X EER scope and mount.
