Scope

Can anybody tell me what kind of scope I can buy, to install on my Smith & Wesson 22A Pistol. I just want to buy a scope pull it out of the package and install on my pistol, no mods of any kind. So can somebody tell me if they make a scope to mount right on the 22A? And I don't want to go overboard on the price. Starter gun and getting into target shooting.

Thanks in advance

How far out are you wanting to go?

Matchdot Ultradot - no magnification but really brings them in.

I've not gone with a scope because it magnifies everything including my shaking. But if it is all in a rest, then... maybe.

Just looking for a cheap scope to put on my 22A and target shoot.
Somebody told me that a red dot scope would mount right to the gun with now mods.
I been to Outdoor world and they had red head scopes there for $45.00 but nobody there can tell me if they would fit the 22A.

I went with a cheap NCStar 2-7X variable lighted. It fits fine and works for me. Now I just need to nail down the ammo it will shoot the best with.

I could have put on a shorter NcStar 2.5X30E and not have it hang over the rear as much.

what you do is

measure the rail and use that to by or go to a real gun store and have it done by them..pistol= short range=red dot scope--pistol=handgun hunter=scope

Pretty much any handgun or long eye relief (LER) scope will work but the higher magnification scopes are going to be long and heavy. For the 22 there's no reason to spend hundreds of dollars. I've had good luck with the NcStars, especially the 2X.

plus another for NC star - make sure you are looking at pistol scopes as a rifle scope won't have enough eye relief.

I put a 2x Millett on my 22 S&W 422 (after making a few mods). I would suggest that you look at a red dot unless you like to see exactly how much "shake" you really have.:o Most of the less expensive red dots have integral mounts and are shorter than a scope. You will have to sight in the scope or red dot in any event.
