Can anyone recommend a nice, reasonably priced scope to have mounted on an AR-15? A couple hundred bones or less.

What power do you have in mind? Need a lighted reticle? Night? Day? Dusk? Small targets? Varmints? Deer?
 
Mostly day scopes for varment hunting and just target shooting. I don't need a high dollar $1,000 plus scope but something for a couple hundred would be fine. I don't know what power I need.
 
3-9x is good as long as you won't be shooting in brush or up close. 2-7x would be better if you think your shots won't be all that long and you might have some closer or moving targets. Look at Nikon, Leupold, or Bushnell, and get the best you can afford. Don't forget a quality scope mount.
 
Nikon or Burris - save up another 100 bones or so. A 3x9 won't come close to being enough for them critters at 2 and 300 hundred yrds. Save up a little more $$$, it'll be worth the wait. A 14x would be the very minimum IMO.
 
I know I am going to get a ration for this,BUT, for the money, bsa doesn't make a bad scope.

Well you're right about the first statement but I have to disagree with the second. ;)

OP I'd stick a Nikon Team Primos 3-9x40 on it - $210 from Natchez. It's a very good scope. A small step down but still a good scope would be a Weaver V9 about $150, or better yet a V10.
 
I knew it was comming;), but I like the bsa for a knck around.

as to a 3-9x being inadequate, it depends on what you want to shoot with it
remember that german and american snipers used 4x fixed scopes at ranges past 600 yards.

a 14X for a 223 ar-15? my god man its not a 50 barrett. 2x7 or 3x9 would be a nice setup. i have a 3x fixed on mine and shoot moa at 100 yds. the 223 wouldnt be my top choice after 100 yds unless your shooting at ground squirrles and such.
