Scope with long eye relief

I'm looking for an inexpensive rifle scope with a long eye relief, probably around 8 or 9 inches. Suggestions would be much appreciated, as this is a new world for me.

Thanks :)

Try Leupold's Scout Scope@$239. It has the eye relief you require.
Burris makes a cheaper Scout model. Cheaper still, you'll have to get a cheap Simmons or Tasco shotgun or pistol scope.

With optics, you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the reply...

It looks like to get the magnification and the eye relief that I need that I'm looking at a handgun scope (I've got my eye on the Leupold EER 2.5-8Xx32). What makes these scopes "handgun"? Could you mount it on a rifle and have no problems? Am I losing anything that should make me just go with a different system entirely?

Thanks again!

I've the L 2.5X8 EER on a Contender - shoots a wildcat in the .308 Win-class. Stout recoil & stout scope. Mounted it, dialed it in & it has stayed there for 6+ years.

IIRC, the eye relief for this scope is 12-24" - dialed in at the ocular.

Great sight piture & one tough scope. I see no problems mounting on a rifle.

May want to actually see one in person & make certain that you get the sight picture/eye relief you want at your described distance.
