scope suggestions

I am planning optics for my slab side Ruger MkII. My only experience with scoped pistols was shooting my dad's Remmington 22jet - years ago.

Any suggestions on whats new and cool or tried and true? Cost isn't a big factor, although I'd rather not throw any more money at it than is needed for a good product.

I use the Ruger primarily for target shooting at this time (the iron sights do a pretty good job at 50 yards), but will probably do some hunting when I get the scope on it.

I put a Tasco 2X scope on my MkII slabside. Leupold makes a better, but more expensive scope.

Remember to match the diameter of the scope to the diameter of your scope rings. (One could be 1" and the other 30mm.) When you mount it, use Gun-tite or Loc-tite and tighten the screws gradually, one by one. The screws in the scope rings need to be very tight to withstand recoil. During use, check for tightness of the large knurled mounting screws periodically.

Thanks guys - I just found this board and have been reading reading reading - alot of good info here.

I'll check these scopes out and get one mounted on the Ruger.
