Scope rings for TC Venture

A friend of mine ordered a new TC Venture compact. She doesn't know much about hunting or guns. She started hunting with me and my wife last year. Anyway, I'm not familiar with the Venture. I see a lot of good reviews though. I see it comes with Weaver style bases installed.
I guess i just need any 1" Weaver style rings? The scope is 1" tube. Also, the scope is a 3x9x40....Can I get away with low rings or do i need medium height rings?
any help is appreciated :)

As a starting point, I'd google for "fitting a rifle scope" for basic information--you're asking a question dependent on several individual variables. Essentially your wife will want a natural "cheek weld" with as little head movement/craning to come to a natural sighting through the scope as possible. This depends on your wife, the rifle stock and the type of scope used.

If you're not sure about ring height, just get the medium height rings. I've been a competitive shooter for over 40 years and do pretty well at it. Although ring height has some importance, as long as you're not shooting with your head stretched up or shooting where you can't get your head down on the stock, you'll do fine with mediums for your purposes. Target shooters get involved in fitting guns to themselves for shooting and most will tell you that for a hunting gun it makes little difference unless the gun is actually awkward to shoot....which is rarely the case. Any set of 1" rings will work but I'd suggest you stay away from the ones that have windage adjustments built in to them. They just add another complexity to mounting and sighting in, and are rarely needed. Weaver rings are fine for any hunting gun and can be purchased in just about any big box store. Don't try to read too much into it, it's just not that complicated for a decent hunting rifle being shot at realistic distances. If you're looking for very long range target shooting, that's a whole 'nother ball game.

I have the same gun. The existing bases are fine just make sure to pull them up and degrease holes, loctite and re torque them down. I used med. height weaver grand slam rings. Sweet little rig and trigger adjusts down nicely.

Most 40mm scopes will work with low rings (but not all), which I'd normally prefer. Mediums will certainly work, but normally place the scope a little higher than I really like.

Any Weaver style will work, but I sorta like the Burris rings best in Weaver bases.
