Scope or Red Dot for my Guide Gun?

I picked up a used Marlin 1895GS with the ported barrel and peep sights already installed. I'm pretty pumped but want to customize it a little more. I'm thinking of putting the XS Sights Lever Scout Mount on it and putting a scope or red dot on it. This gun will be a woods special and rarely see a 100 yard shot. I want something that's easily visible and fast on target.

What do you use? Why? Pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help.

If you don't plan on shooting past 100 yards, then a red dot is your best bet. You will be able to get on your target alot faster. They are many many options for red dots, anywhere from $50 to $500. Depending on how much you want to spend

I have the same questions, I have a Ruger GSR and I am finding few options for IER scopes and they are all pretty pricey too. I am thinking about a red dot, but would like a little magnification for those 100 yard shots. Any suggestions?

Best of both worlds? Maybe a 2x truglo or something of that nature, thats my plan for when i get one of those puppies

I love my Marlin with a 2.5X28 Luepold Scout scope...

Fast aquisition, both eyes open... Where's that Hog??

Excuse the stockings...

Pictured with a Leupold Scout scope, I sometimes use a mini red dot.

SR420: Did you have someone extend your magazine tube? If so who?

It is a custom +2 mag tube extension and I think the guy lives in VA, but I can recall his name or the company name right now.
I look through my papers later.

The first picture showed a Leupold 2.5x EER Scout scope... now with a Micro T-1.
