Scope mounting problem

I have a Browning X-Bolt in .375H&H, I was attempting to mount a Leupold VX-3 2.5-8x36mm scope on it but the bases are just barely too far apart for the rings to be on the level part of the scope. I'm using weaver cross bar bases with Leupold quick release rings. A guy at the gun shop said I should look for other bases but I think with the X-bolt 4 screw platform there wont be a great variety.
Does anyone know if Leupold's other quick release rings might be narrower?
What would you do in my situation?
Thank y'all for any advice.

You may need to acquire a set of extended rings.
Leupold does make a set, don't know what the part number is.

You can purchase "base blanks" in both aluminum or steel. You can then mark where the screw holes need to be, and where the cross-slots need to be and have any gunsmith with a milling machine mill the cross slot and screw holes. I haven't purchased a set like that in years but I bet Brownells has them.

Not sure if this will work for you but some times turning one or both bases 180* will change the position of the slots making the spacing shorter or longer . This has to be done with the Ruger American sometimes

Check with Talley. They are making the Browning brand rings for Browning , as well as the Winchester Brand rings for the mod. 70s. I think you can get them in 1/4 or 1/2" offset [extension]. I just saw an ad for the x-bolt rings but can't remember where.
