Scope Mounting on Marlin 60

Based on much reading here, I opted for a new Simmons 22 MAG 4-9, 32mm AO for my 1985 Marlin 60.

I just mounted it and will try to be at range tomorrow to zero it.

However, I have read in various places that it is sometimes necessary to "shim" (front or rear) the mounting of scopes to help "roughly zero" the scope (particularly elevation, I presume).

Has anyone had such a need for such shims when mounting this Simmons to the Marlin 60 with the ring setup that came with the scope (dovetail mounts)?
Or, is that even possible with the dovetail mount on the Marlin and other rimfire rifles?

Get a One-piece Leaper's mount for it and don't sweat shimming.

Come to think of it, I've never had to shim a Marlin. And I've got Quite a few :)

Just put the same scope on my Marlin 60 a few months ago; it was practically zeroed out of the box. I think you're good.

Did you use the rings/mount that came with the scope or did you use some other ring mount combo?

I just used the ones that came with it. Performance out of this little scope for $40 is pretty hard to beat.

Thanks

Thanks all...............

We'll try like WWWJD. If that does not do, we'll add the one piece rail.

Yep, Marlin 60 and a 4x .22 mag scope and I'm as happy as can be. Went shooting today and was able to hit man-sized silhouttes at 300 yards with surprising ease once we figured out how high to hold over. Oh... and when the wind wasn't blowing of course :D One shot hit about 15 to the right, we almost didn't notice the dirt jump it was so far over, lol.

You'll be just fine with your current plan.
