Scope Mount for Remington 597

Does anyone know where I can get scope bases for my Remington Model 597. The only one I been able to find so far is B-Square's one piece base. Thanks for the help.

Remington makes a weaver type scope rail for full size rings that fits on top of the reciever covering the 3/8 dovetail, using the screw holes tapped in the reciever. I picked mine up at a local shop for about $12. Check your local shops, somebody should have them, or be able to order them. Check out www.remington.com I think you could order it off the website, but if not, you can see it. I think they also have a searchable list of authorized repair centers if you wanted to try to find a shop close to you.

Would attaching the rings directly to the receiver's rail make it too low for you? I didn't seem to have any trouble with that method when I had one.

The groove on the receiver just doesn,t seem deep enough for the rings to grab well. I would prefer a mount that a little stronger.
