Scope mount for MkII

I have the 5.5" bull bbl MkII and I'm thinking about putting a red dot on it. This model is not drilled and tapped but I have seen mounts that use the screw holes from the existing sights. Does anyone have any experience with these? B Square made the one I saw. Are there other manufacturers and is it worth getting one of these instead of paying to have my pistol drilled and tapped?

I used the SoLow for a red dot on my Mk II. Took a little fitting with a file on the bottom to get the receiver to fit to the frame once they were installed, but it was minor trimming, not major surgery. Ordered direct from their web site and had them 2 days later.

can't remember the brand, but,it mounts to the rear sight and wraps around the bbl, just forward of the receiver.works good.mounted a 2x trashco scope.did this over 12yrs.ago.still holds zero.just my $.02'sworth.

I had a MkII mount from b-square that attached to the rear dovetail after the rear sight was removed. I had a BSA red dot on it and worked a whole lot better than expected. Held zero and accurate to 50 or so yard. It was a great little fun gun. Never should have gotten rid of it.

Have a blast,

Just to put in my 2 cents worth:

I tried a mount similar to the Weigand mount (an MGW) and I returned it. I didn't like how high it lifted the dot scope (serious sighting issues from near to far due to the distance from bore to scope). I also didn't like the added weight to the top of the pistol. Between the two, I felt like my MK512 was very top heavy and tippy.

I personally like the solow, and have nothing but good luck with it. It's exceedingly light, rigid, my scope has NEVER lost alignment, and it keeps the scope as low as humanly possible. Nice all around.

Good luck with what you choose.

Regards,
Cedric
