Scope mount for M44?

What is the most stabile scope mount available for the Russian M44 carbine? Does anyone offer bolt with the turned down handle or will I have to modify the one I have? I'd like to add a scope to my M44 for deer hunting. What's the effective range for taking deer with the M44?

To scope the M44, you also have to modify the bolt handle.

Try Century Internation Arms. I believe that they sell a scope mount and new bolt handle for the M44. They also sell a hunting stock.

Does anyone know how the bolt handle is modified with the kit? Do you have to cut off the old bolt handle and attach a new one?

Those turned down bolt handles are usually a cut and weld deal. From the photo in SGN, it almost looks like bolts holding the new handle in place (eesh).

I would go for the Smith Enterprise mount (http://www.smithenterprise.com) which is based on the Russian M91/30 mount. The difference in the Smith is that it takes Weaver Rings.
