Today I traded for a 1965 Browning Hi Power Safari grade in 30-06. It's a great looking gun with the original paperwork from the original owner. It shows a few wear signs from hunting, and I plan to continue to hunt with it.
Right now it has the factory sights on it and seems to be sighted in well with those, but I'd like to put a scope on it as well. The receiver looks to be drilled for a mount. Is there a standard scope mount for this gun? Sorry if that question is stupid, but the only other scoped gun that I have came with the mount and rings already on it from the store. I'm not sure if the sizing for mounts is standardized or if I need to buy something custom.
I don't need a fancy mount - just a good value for casual hunting. I'll use this for shooting whitetail behind my house at 200 yards tops.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to TFL !

If you check the various major scope mount folks for commercial M98 or Browning Hi-Power mounts, there are a few different styles to choose from (Weaver-type, turn-in rings type, etc, etc).

I would suggest you start at www.swfa.com - an online dealer with a wide selection and close to the best prices available anywhere.

one piece

Based on the info here I bought a talley lightweight 2 piece integrated ring/mount for a commercial mauser. Put it on the browning today and it fit great with a 42 mm scope.
Thanks all for your input.
