Scope for pre-64 mod. 70 Winchester

Dang'it, I found a scope I wanted to buy for my pre-64 model 70 Winchester and then a guy sez I have get special rings and mounts due to the scopes "bells" being so close to each other. The scope was a Leupold VX-II 2-7x with dot reticle.

Anyone know of a similar scope that'll work with the mounts and rings I now have? Have Leupold bases and rings now on this gun with a cheap scope.

I have several pre-64 model 70s in standard lenght actions and 2 of them have Leupold 2x7 compacts and I have standard rings and bases on them but there isnt an abundance of wiggle room. An excellent scope as it allows low rings and is properly supported with standard rings. I cant think of a better combo.
