In another topic, we were discussing a scope for my Marlin 1894P. I bought a used Leupold 2x M8 scope off of Gunbroker.com and found out when the auction had closed that it was a pistol scope. I "assumed" it was a rifle scope and hadn't done my homework.
I received the scope yesterday. After working with a it a while, I realized that it would work within a range of inches on the eye relief and as close as about 9". So I'm pretty sure it's going to work out fine on the Marlin. I've got the rifle and scope in the shop for mounting - they have to order the Ashley Outdoors scout mount and low rings for it.
I'm glad you guys talked me into looking at the quality end of the scopes. This Leupold scope has recently be back to the factory for service and had the objective lens replaced and other servicing and testing. The optics seem very good to me - bright and clear. I really like knowing it has a lifetime warranty.
Thanks for all the good advice! PaulTX
