Scope for .223 Handi-rifle

I'm looking for some recommendations regarding a fixed/low power scope for a .223 heavy barrel Handi-rifle. I prefer something less than $100 if that's possible. Also, I'm wondering about trying a red dot sight on the same rifle. Any opinions there? Thanks.

Love my Handi-Rifle! I have a simple Simmons 3x9-32 on it and it shoots just fine. Only problem thatr I have found with this rifle is that you can't seat reloaded bullets OUT far enough to come close to contacting the rifling. Still produces decent groups though.

Thanks for the input B. I went by my favorite purveyor of fine firearms this morning and guess what I found? A very clean Handi-Rifle in .223 with a Simmons 3-9x40WA scope already mounted. The rifle has the nice laminated stock and he was asking only $250!

Seeing how the HCI annual report came out today and Texas got a D-, I decided I better help by buying a new gun!

When I purchased my Ruger "ULTRA-LITE" in .223 in 1989, I purchased a Bushnell SPORTSVIEW 3x9x32. It may be a 22 scope but, has worked out fine for me all these years. The only thing I don't like about it...it will not focus at 25 yards. You have to take it back to 6x.
