Scope for 10/22

Hey guys,
Just bought my first rifle. Decided to go with the 10/22 SS, and I like it. I have to scoping options, and would like your opinion. I have a BSA red dot scope, and a 4x32 Simmons that needs to be mounted. What do you think would be best for the 10/22? I would mostly be using it for plinking and small game hunting. I like the Quickness of the BSA, but how accurate is it out to, say 50 yards, That dot is pretty big, at that distance. Any opinions? Thanks!

I have 2 10/22's. One has the Volq carbon fiber barrel, hogue stock, and tasco red dot. It is incredably fast sighting, and amazing for rapid fire. I can take eye shots (2 inch groups) at 15 yards as fast as i can pull the triger (4 to 5 shots a second are not impossable to sustain through the whole clip) and stay on target. Its extremely handy. However for longer distance, i prefer the other rifle.
The other has a longer heavier barrel (buttler creek bbl/stock) and the same simmons 4x32 you have. For precise shoots (small targets at distance) a sharp scope always is better than a red dot, as the MOA (area covering your target) is smaller and more precise. That being said, i have more fun with the red dot- and am confident i can hit whatever i want with the red dot...so its all a matter of opinion. Both will get the job done. If someone offered me a good price for the simmons rifle id sell it, but i wouldnt sell the red dot volk rifle for anything less than the cost of rebuilding the same thing...that being said, if your just doing one or the other, for fun and light vermin, id say red dot. For more serious target or small game hunting, id go simmons. *(note, that the simmons 4x32 scope is the 'most popular' for the 22 country wide..according to most adds.) Either way you have a winner, so experiment and enjoy.
