Scope Caps touching barrel

I have mounted a Bushnell scope on my Winchester Stealth and the scope bell is 1/16 inch off the barrel. When I put a set of flip up scope caps on the scope the plactic touches the barrel. Does any one know if this will affect the way the rifle will shoot?

Thanks for any replies.

I had the same problem after i mounted a Simmons .44 Mag 6.5x20x44 with target turrets on my Savage 110 30-06. All i did was take the front cap to to my shed, grabbed my trusty dremel and surgically removed some material on both the very bottom(where it touches barrel) and inside the cap at the bottom and she fits like a glove now..(even though the trained eye can see where i "mauled" the outside some):p .I did this after having to switch to a set of higher rings for the scope to not touch the barrel without the caps on.

Thank you both for the replies. I just want to get some feedback before I modify the front scope cap or change to different rings.

Thanks again

JB

Turning the cap won't change anything. They are the same thickness all the way around. I do have mine to the side, because when I flip it up, I don't like to see it.

Best check.........I imagine, your scope obj, is hitting the barrel, WITHOUT the BC caps.......you probably need to get the scope UP........as you fire the rifle, the barrel vibrates as much as a 1/2 inch at the muzzle........IF it's NOT rubbing the bell, I would be surprised.
Check it out.......this will cause a shift in your POI.........BOTH conditions, or one.
