Scope base/ring recommendations

I picked up my first bolt action rifle (Tikka T3) and am going to pair it with a Leupold VX-3. Should I stick with Leopold for the base and rings or should I look at another brand or another style like DNZ?

Leupold bases and rings have been around for many decades: you can't go wrong using them.

Leupold, Redfield, Burris, and Weaver are the main scope bases I use. Warne and Leupod QRW rings are the rings I use the most. Burris signature come in a very close third.

Tikkas are made with bases machined into the receiver. Warne makes Maxima rings for Tikkas, no base needed. Only downside to the Maxima is they're heavy.
The Talley lightweights or the DNZ Huntmasters would be a few ounces lighter.

Just so you know. The NEW Redfield scope bases are NOT affiliated with the Redfield scope company. They're sold by a company in Onalaska, Wisconsin AND their made in China. I bought some and had the screw snap when "snugging" it up.

I bought a Tikka T3 .204 awhile back and went with a DNZ Grimreaper mount with a Sightron II Big Sky 6-24x44mm - rock friggin' solid. I didn't like the sharp edges on the Talley, I can post a pic if you'd like.

If you will replace the screws that come with your rifle's mounts with better qualty from a hardware store, (it cost me $3) the scope mounts that come with the gun are as good as any.

If you just want to spend $50-$60 then I wouldn't use anything other than DNZ, or Talley Lightweigts.

I put Warne QD rings on a regular Warne weaver base on my T3, I didn't like the idea of gun specific rings that limits me to one height and one diameter scope. I tend to mix and match scopes/rifles until I find the right combo.

Millet Rings paired with an Evolution Gun Works base is a solid combination....I have that rig on my Rem 700 .308 and have pounded it.....No complaints..!
