Hi all,
I was thinking of buying a brand new Armi San Marco copy of a S&W SCHOFIELD revolver ( the dealer has 3 left) but have found out that Armi San Marco no longer make firearms does anyone know why? Are the guns they made of good quality or was that the reason they are not in business now. The Uberti copy of the Schofield is around $400 more than this Armi San Marco I am looking at. I know S&W Performance Center made a Model of 2000 Schofield but one of those is a little out of my reach price wise.
Does anyone know what happened to them?

OK. DON'T! The ASMs were notorious for popping open when fired. They had soft steel parts and were POJ. I would say that any ASM Schofield clone is UNSAFE TO SHOOT! ASM, Navy Arms, Cimmaron, EMF and IAR imported and sold ASM revolvers. Traditions did also. They were sold off as POJ gunsmith specials through varied sources. The best thing to use a ASM Schofield clone for is a doorstop. They are not even good at that. View ANY Armi San Marcos manufactured or American Western Arms branded revolver with caution. POJ. I would value a ASM anything at less than $100.00 parts value.

Well, mine didn't pop open when fired, but it took three guns ordered to get two that would get out of the store in working condition. The ones that worked shot far to the left. My gunsmith ran a range rod down mine's barrel, it would not pass through, the barrel was too curved! My pard's was not quite as crooked but still not really usable. We sent them back to Cimarron and heard nothing for several months. I asked the Cimarron rep at the SHOT show, who said they had probably gone back to Italy to be rebuilt. After a few more months we asked for our money back and received a refund of the wholesale price. So we were out the dealer markup, fortunatly not much on a regular customer special order, shipping, and sales tax.

So the short answer is, leave them there.
Uberti/Navy Arms Schofield and Russians are of better qualilty, and some are in use in CAS, but your chances are better with a SAA clone.

The Ubertis clone is better in every area than the S&W Schofield 2000 or the ASM. I would have 0 reservations about purchasing the Uberti clone.

I have taken Sir William's advice & ordered a Uberti can’t wait to have the first shot, they cost a little more here in Australia best price $1185.00 Australian, works out to be around $900.00 US. Shooting is an expensive sport here & with the way the Federal Government discourages gun ownership it does not have a very bright future I am sad to say, almost no young people shooting any more the average age of our club would be 45 to 50 now days.
