Schofield replicas

Hmm..perhaps I should have posted this on Blackpowder forum,
but my question concerns ''modern'' Schofield replicas i e
Schofields that have cylinders lenghtened to chamber .45 Colt
ammo.
I must admit I liked the idea very much, until I heard that despite
the .45 Colt inscription on the gun,the ammo you feed it
MUST NOT exceed ballistics of the original .45 S&W cartridge.
So,NO CCI Blazers?
NO Winchester Silvertips?
Not even those cool 255gr.LRN at 900fps BP loads in the
Schofield??
UUUGGH!!...Can this be true??

Unless there is a VERY explicit warning either on the gun, or in the manual, I would have to believe Uberti would guarantee the gun to be safe with SAAMI spec .45 Colt loads, which were in turn designed to be safe in early Colt SAA's. Any loads which are marked +P should be confined to Rugers, TC's, or Freedom Arms revos.

I may buy one of the Smith Russian Replicas, which they sell in .44 Russian caliber. (Always have liked the look of that spur sticking off the trigger guard) :)

Bear in mind, you may get a little better accuracy with light loads in a small case, like the .45 S&W, than a big case like the .45 Colt.

If you get one, post the results, I am curious about them, myself.:D

I've been wanting a Schofield replica for some time.

Anybody have one here at TFL that would share their likes and dislikes of that classic top-break S&W revolver?

Shot one, once, the fellow was shooting standard pressure 45 colt reloads.

The cylinder is still pretty short, he said he couldn't shoot round nose bullets out of it, only Flat points.

Big heavy thing, I really liked it.
