Hi Friends :
Over here , in Spain , we play a black powder cartridge discipline with revolvers , which is named " Piñal " .
Replicas must keep fidelity with original ones to be allowed in the competition , and just here start my doubt .
I¨ve just buyed a Smith & wesson Nº 3 Schofield manufactured in 2000th ; it mount a floating firing pin , and I don´t know if any original did .
So my answer is When S&W started to mount this system ?

I think it was the 1950's when they started. No original Schofield ever came with a floating firing pin. The Ubertis have a hammer mounted pin like the originals

That frame-mounted firing pin on the S&W Schofield 2000 was mandated by their lawyers for "safety." Doesn't really make it any safer, but made the lawyers happy.
