SCCY CPX-2 trigger

Ok I'm on the fence with whether to get a CPX-2 for $230 local store, or a Taurus pt111 G2 9mm $240 after all fee's taxes to local store.
currently EDC is Sig P250 SC in 9mm.

wondering mostly about the CPX-2 trigger, heard it's pretty smooth ?

Go on Youtube and watch some videos about it. Hickock45 is an excellent source. He is an amazing shot (former competitive shooter and retired LEO) . In his video, he said it is a decent little handgun for the money but the trigger pull is LOOOOOOONG. I.E., you have to practice with it quite a bit to be proficient with a trigger pull that long.

I've tried a couple out, and the trigger pull is VERY long. But its also very smooth. It'd be something you'd have to practice with, for sure. But the CPX-2 is getting some pretty good reviews, and seems to be a nice little pistol for the price.

I'm used to DAO triggers in the Sig. it's not really a problem, groups 1-2 inches fairly easily.

i think the taurus or cpx2 will be equally as good, may come down to ergos. the sig just doesn't let me get my forward thumb on the frame due to the take down lever.

What would the SCCY do that the subcompact P250 wouldn't? What's this new one for?

For that money, I think I'd be looking at the Kel Tec PF9.

please, for the sake of yourself, DO NOT BUY A SCCY.......

I love my Taurus. my sccy went to the actory a holf dozen times, and still had to sell it.....still broken. even if t worked, which belive me, not even close, the trigger is horrible and i's over priced ofr what it is. the Taurus is an awesome gun, sa/da striker(when your at the LGS, cock the gun before trying the trigger, it's on of the shortest triggers I have ever uses, heavy though), FULLY adjustable sights that are nice, lock back, second strike(so does the SCCY but w/o always being in the horrible doube-action only all the time), chamber indicator, perfectly placed external safety and glock-type safety trigger. the Taurus is 3 times the gun for less the money. mine is nearing 1000 after a couple days ago, and it is a reliable nice shooting pistol. waay better than the sccy.

sorry to be such a hater, but I went through hell and back with the sccy, it's a cheaply built, unreliable gun with one of the worst triggers ever conceived. I wanted my sccy to work, love the size, weight, look and grip.......but it didn't. after a half dozen times back to the shop for all kinds of different things breaking...you think they would just replace it. it ended up getting worked on so much the tolerances were so loose by that point I didn't even feel safe with the rattler. rear sight falls off, frame pins walk out, external extractor broken, light strikes that were never resolved, internal extractor broke, several broken safeties.....there is more, and this was all under 500 rounds. save yourself the headache, get the Taurus

is your sig not a sub-compact? cause I agree that it seems the most reasonable option of you already have it, they are nice guns.

I have a CPX-1. The one with the safety. Mine fits my hand well. Shoots flawlessly. Comes with 2 mags. SCCY has excellent customer service. The generation 1 had issues but they are no more. My PF9's grips too skinny for my hands (the piece of inter tube helps with the grip.

My friend bought a CPX-2 a few months ago. I've had the chance to shoot it several times. I thought the trigger was smooth but long. Really not much worse than my Kahr CM9.

He has around 500 rounds through it with minimal issues. In the first 100 rounds it failed to go into battery a few times. We attribted it to part of the break-in process. He put in a 18# recoil spring recently as a percautuon.

one of the down sides with the sig is that it's a bit chunky. it has been 100% reliable, maybe 600 rounds and is very accurate. but, ergos just feels blah. my little taurus 740 felt much better, could get both hands where they needed to go. i just cannot get my weak thumb on the right place on the frame. i may try shooting it with thumb forwards and off the frame. but still 25oz.

Between the two options you listed, I would go with the Taurus. I absolutely love mine, and it has been 100% reliable. Here are the reasons I like the Taurus over the SCCY:

1. The trigger. As many have mentioned, the SCCY has a very long trigger pull. It also has to go pretty much all the way forward before it resets. The Taurus, on the other hand, has a nice pull in single action with a very short reset. The double action pull is longer and heavier, of course, but you will only use the double action in the event of a light strike/hard primer.

2. The grip. The SCCY has very distinct finger grooves, and, as with most guns that have those, they don't line up at all with my ridiculously thick fingers. Your fingers may line up well with them, but I would definitely recommend spending a little time with it in your hand before you make up your mind.

As far as shooting, I can only speak on the Taurus, as I have handled, but never fired the SCCY. Mine was accurate out of the box with no adjustments to the sights. I was able to keep 32 out of 35 shots in a fairly decent group at 7 yards on my first time out with it (keep in mind that this was also only my 4th time shooting a pistol, ever. Target pic available below). The recoil is negligible, and getting back on target was quick and smooth. The 3 fliers were the result of me trying some double taps, but they were still well within reasonable self defense accuracy needs.

Long story short (I know, too late), the Taurus wins this competition hands down, IMO.

I would say neither. You have a perfectly fine EDC as it is, one that is reliable, well made and comes from a company that stands behind what they make. While the SCCY seems to get good reviews and cs, they are no where near as established as Sig. As for the Taurus, poor OC, CS and a miserable track record in terms of consistency. If I had to pick one, it would be the P250.

ETA - I just read the post about the fit of the P250 in your hand. If you do decide to ahead and find a new EDC, I still say avoid the Taurus and SCCY.

It didn't take me long to realize that my Glock 19 was not going to be my EDC. It was just too big, heavy and bulky. Too bad, because I really like it. My SCCY CPX 2 is the right size and weight for me. I can carry it all day long and almost forget I have it on me. It has been 100% reliable with just under 1,000 rounds thru it.

The trigger pull and reset takes a bit of a learning curve, but once learned the CPX is easy enough to shoot and worth the effort.

As much as it has been in and out of holsters, the finish still looks good as new. The fit and finish is of a quality found in higher priced guns.

Since I don't own a Taurus, I can't offer anything helpful.

I really like my CPX-2. It is well made, accurate, and has an excellent warranty. The trigger doesn't bother me at all. It takes a little getting used to, but it is relatively easy to shoot well once you get the hang of it.
