Scattergun Tech Mag Extension

Howdy. I'm in the market for a mag extension for my 870. I'm avoiding new Remington due to philisophical differences. Choate seems to be the old standby and still a good choice. How does the Scattergun Tech compare with the others on the market? From my research I conclude that it is built a bit heavier than the Choate/Remington extensions. I am primarily purchasing the extension to add some up front weight so this might be a good thing. I see that Scattergun doesn't recommend a barrel clamp with their extension, however I don't like the idea of the extension hangin out there unsupported and have read that the clamp actually improves slug accuracy. Can I use a Choate clamp with a ST extension? Also: Has anyone tracked down the infamous Choate 3 shot extension for the 20 gauge 870 Youth? I know they used to make one but haven't been able to find it among their current offerings.

I have one, and it works fine. The thing is solid as a freakin tank...once you handle one you'll have no worry about it being unsupported by a clamp.
