SCAR 16s

Well I've been dating this rifle for a week or so and I finally brought her back to my place...

FN SCAR 16S

I haven't put her down since I got home. Hoping to get out to the range this weekend. I'll be sure to post a range report when I do.

Of course this begs the question as to why you chose this rifle over others in the class, such as the ACR. I'm not advocating one over another, I'm just digging for info.

My guess is the scar is lighter, hasn't been recalled as well as countless documented growing pain issues such as the acr has gone through. It has seen actual use in theatre and runs like a well oiled machine.

Colors don't seem to match on any of them except the ones in FN catologes.:). Sweet gun. You'll like it. Takes awhil to get used to it as the handle reciprocates. Easy to break down and clean.
Enjoy.

tgreening, why my choice?

Already have a Bushmaster AR-15 and have been very happy with it. Also have a cheap AK just for makin noise. As for my choosing the SCAR over the ACR it came down to the feel of the rifle. I spent a LOT of time handling both and the ACR just doesn't feel as solid. The SCAR also accepts any AR pistol grip where the ACR grip is part of the plastic molded frame. I've got some skillet hands and use a thicker grip with adjustable swells. I've had an FN Ps90 for several years and am a fan of their machines. Nothing against Bushmaster, but the ACR is basically a copy of the SCAR anyway. Got a good deal on it that I couldn't pass up. FN seems to have brought their prices down in responce to the ACR.

LES any grip will not fit properly on the scar. You can make some adjustments to get them to fit to either the grip or the scar mount point. I've tried the ergo, miad, and tango down and none of them fit properly.

Once again enjoy and give us a range report.

Finally got out with it this morning. The weather's been crappy lately and it's been driving me crazy just sit'n in the safe.

Took about five minutes to get the irons and Eotech zeroed at 25yds and then moved on out to do some work.

Here's the first group @ 100 yds...

...and the best 100 yd group out of the 500 rounds I sent down range...

This thing is an absolute dream to shoot! I was extremely impressed with the trigger. Light, short, smoothe, and I could feel the reset after every round. Muzzle rise and felt recoil were virtually non existent. The brake did a lot to reduce recoil, but it sure kicked the noise up quite a bit. I stood by and watched a fellow shooter send a mag down range with it and the thing sounded like a .44mag. I wish I'd had the time to put more than 500 rounds through it this morning, but it was a good start to the day. Can't wait to get back out with it...

They look really cool if you cut the barrel to 12" and put the 4" AAC black out brake on it.

I couldn't put a 25 yard zero on mine without grinding the front post.
