Sbr Help

I'm not sure what my options are here, I want to register a weapon as an SBR, but unfortunately, it is already registered as a pistol.

I'm pretty sure you can't register a pistol as an SBR(though I may be wrong), but is it possable to throw a 16 inch barrel and a stock on it and register it as a rifle, THEN register it as a SBR? Any help would be welcome.

It's not illegal to convert a pistol to a rifle. Being that you want the barrel 16in it wouldn't be considered a SBR.

You can go directly from a pistol to an SBR - no problem there. When the paperwork gets approved just add the stock and short barrel of your choice. The only problem would be if/when you ever decided you didn't want it as a NFA weapon and wanted to remove it from the registry by making it a title I firearm again. You could only make it into a rifle after being registered as an SBR; you could not return it to a pistol configuration.
