SBH sight hanging up in holster

I love this gun but the barrel sight is like a fish hook when its in a holster. Any suggestions? I' m willing to try some different sights although I shoot good with these.

See how the back side of the sight is J-hooked slightly. Its ver frustrating to draw out. And with a 10" barrel its even worse. I hunt deer with this SBH and I carry it on my side or in a Uncle Mikes vertical shoulder holster(works good under my bibs)

The Teflon might work but with the depth of the holsters, getting it down in there and adhering good might be a challenge.

Does anyone know why Ruger made the sight like that? Not only does it hang up in the holster, its sharp! I have a couple of scares from it from cleaning. It will slice your fingers like a knife.

Those sights were made for silhouete shooters and rarely were they holster carried. The undercut blade was designed to prevent any glare on the blade. The quick draw blade on a ramp was the usual sight for the Blackhawk/Super Blackhawk/Bisley line of revolvers.

You gunsmith can easily swap out front sights, and probably has one of correct height on hand. My usual custom is when changing out front sights, fit a ramp that is milled out to take several types of blades so different heights/shapes can be used.

I thought about filing it, even rounding it. I have a dyno-file that would make it an easy job.

Sights arent that expensive so maybe after deer season I will swap them out. I dont want to mess up the zero right now.

Thank you for the replies everyone

I'd add a little PlioBond glue to the back, and use a strip of wood cut to the right size to hold it while it dries

If you don't mind filing the sight though, it's moot
