Texas State Rifle Association Email ---
There have been numerous email messages and telephone calls to the TSRA office
about Senate Bill 2009. Here are the facts about SB 2099.
SB-2099 could very seriously impact the right to keep and bear arms if it moved
anywhere. However, it is not on the Senate Finance Committee calendar. If it is
not placed on the calendar by Sept. 5, it will not see any action whatsoever
this year. It is viewed by the NRA and TSRA as not being a threat. It is
cosponsored by Feinstein and Kennedy, but that is not much support in the Senate
for serious legislation.
No action is required at this time. Maybe next year.
Efforts would be better spent getting all your friends, acquaintances, family,
gun club members, shooting buddies, et al registered and encouraged to vote in
the November election. Control of Congress is more important than the
presidential election. There are only a handful of Democrat seats open in the
House, but there are twenty some odd Republican seats open. That's a lot of
exposure. We need to be active in garnering a heavy pro-gun turnout.
