dont really need one, just want another,, mostly home defense-shooting fun--no ccw issues here (i could probably conceal a bazooka and no one would notice, hey is that a bazooka in you pants or are you happy to see me? hahah) anway
these are the ones i am looking at

ruger gp100 4inch full underlug 357-don't have 357 yet
ruger p90-45's are cool and this one is a tank, plu my p97 needs a buddy
ruger p94-dont have a 40-plus like the looks of it over p90 and other guns
glock31-357 sig sure is cool round but already gotta glock, love it, but don't need two guns that look exactly alike with similar mags laying round the house at night
sigpro-2340-in 357sig-might be hard to find-but i dont like how sig classics feel in had-too small, too high up
ruger blackhawk-44 mag-the single action counterpart to my redhawk
cz-85b in 40-to go with the cz75 turkey gun i got and love--would be two tone

yeha i know whichever one you shoot best and whichever one feels best etc, out of these (and possibly others) which one would you get with around $400 or so (that being the amount i am setting to spend on

yeah, sometimes i get all jacked up over all these semis then go shoot somewhere and wich that i had broought more revolver ammo-it do seem more fun to me, and i know that the gp100 is a good allaround everyone should have one knida gun, guess that helps with the decsion sometimes

might look like the one from this post by johnk-about grips-sorry dont know how to make picture work

Here's my GP with wood Hogue's. A little dark, one of these days I'll get a better picture taken.

tog . . .

Of the handguns you cite, I strongly recommend Ruger's KGP-141 (all stainless, four-inch full-underlug barrel, adjustable rear sight, GP-100). I own two and they are great -- probably the best value in-production revolvers. In addition, like all top-quality .357 magnum/.38 Special revolvers, it has almost unlimited operational flexibility.

I know it isn't

there but I would get a Sig P229 in 357 Sig and then buy the 40 S&W barrel. That way you get two guns for the price of one.

the sig classics-while nice guns- simply fit my hand like junk--they feel horrible-the backstrap dig way down into the web of my hand and the centerline on them feels way too high up for me, just don't like how they feel in hand, never will, it sucks cause that puts a whole section of the cool gun market out of my hands, but oh well, there are others out there that feel good

Hmmm....your list is quite similar to mine. Anyway, my last 3 were the P90, the Sig Pro in .357 and a .44 mag Ruger Bisley. But what? No .357 mag yet? Everybody gotta have one of those. The GP100 would be a great choice.

how ya like the sigpro? the only thought here is that if ican have 11 rounds of "357" power might as well have that instead of just 6 with the gp100,,,, hmmm

tog (important) . . .

It would be a mistake to equate .357 Sig power with the .357 magnum. This subject has been extensively debated on TFL (check the archives) and the consensus is that the low-end of .357 magnum power is essentially equal to the .357 Sig's high-end. That roughly covers the personal defense spectrum, but it fails to address more potent .357 magnum hunting loads. In addition, a tremendous advantage of the .357 magnum is its ability to use inexpensive and ubiquitously available .38 Special rounds, which are great for target practice and plinking -- and even for self-defense (particularly in +P loadings).

I am not denigrating the .357 Sig; I think it is a great caliber and I own a Sig P-226 in .357 Sig. However, I would not want you to err by believing the .357 magnum and the .357 Sig are uniformly similar.

yes i haqve read all those post and understand how the 357mag can go way off the deep end of the power range-and that is a factor as i am going to be hunting some boar around here in the next couple of years
(but already got a 44 redhawk for that)
think i will just stick with the gp100 4 inch full underlug, know a place where i can get a nib for $360ish

Tog:
What? ? ? ? No .357 in the cabinet? ? ? Run out NOW and buy the GP-100!

The .357 Mag, with all its different loadings available (If you don't roll your own) is a very versatile cailbre, and when factoring in all the .38Spl loads, you have a wide range of ammo.

For a DA revolver, the 4" Ruger GP100 would be hard to beat. If SA in your thing, take a good look at the Vaqueros, or Blackhawks. The most "fun gun" I have is a short barrel Sheriffs Model Vaquero in .357

Good Luck, and Good Shooting
