Savage Stevens "Favorite" 30G ????

This looks like an interesting gun. I have seen original models in gunshops before but they were overpriced. I'm a sucker for .22's - has anyone seen one of these in person? Looking for comments on fit and fininsh before ordering. Here is a link to Savage's website:

Was also interested in the bolt action .22 pistol. I know this is the rifle forum, but it is almost a rifle - anyone had any experience with their .22 Striker series?

Thanks,

I looked one over pretty good at a local shop. It seems to be a pretty nice little rifle, fit and finish were good, however, the stock "seems" to be a little more blocky than my dad's old Stevens. I don't really know what it was, since I haven't handled dad's for probably close to 15 years, but maybe it felt a little thicker, or squarer or something, and of course it didn't have the many, many years of handling that give an old oil finished piece of wood the smoothness and feel that a new (even new oil) finish can never quite duplicate. All I can say, is keep checking around local shops and you may find one of the new ones that you can handle before you buy. I do like these little guns, and if you are taken by the styling go ahead and order one, if you have a friendly ffl holder you should get it for less than the suggested retail, probably be about the same price as a 10-22 at Wally-world, but will have much more charm and character. As for me, I'll just keep waiting (for a day that I hope doesn't come too soon) to get my dad's original.

p.s. no experience with the Strikers.
