Savage/Stevens 350

Any experiences with this gun?(Ithaca 37 clone.) I read that the finish is phosphate and not parkerized. I've also read that the Browning BPS is hard to break down for cleaning. This gun seems to have a similar action.

If it is important to you, check the availability of barrels. That can be an issue with some of the clones. A pro for the 350 is warranty, which comes from Stevens. A lot of folk are turned on by the GRS only to learn that they may not be useful. I think the exception is a slug shooter and they may want a mid size barrel.

I have a Hawk 982 (870 clone) that would have the same problem with the barrel interchange. It also has ghost rings, and I'm pretty pleased with it. I don't really have any plans on adding a longer barrel, but they do offer a bantam package that would solve the problem. I was wondering if the gun was worth spending the $$ on.

Phosphate is parkerizing.

It's a clone of the Ithaca 37, not a BPS. The BPS is based on the Ithaca as well, though.

I was all set to get one of those until a saw an Escort MP at a gun show last weekend. I ended up getting one. I felt that the overall quality was better than the Stevens. Fiber optics front and rear. Not trying to hijack your thread, but you might want to take a look a these if you're considering the 350. Here are a few pictures.

I AGREE with you WBW!
I have read nothing but great reviews about that gun, including quality and dependability.

It already comes with a HEAT SHIELD, FLASH GUARD, GHOST RINGS, FIBER OPTICS, 2 PICATINNY RAILS, PISTOL GRIP/SHOULDER STOCK. I've done a lot of research and owners like the ESCORT better than any other "low cost" shotgun!

Of course they are made in TURKEY by a company that makes weapons for many Middle Eastern countries, including TURKEY, which has the 3rd largest ARMY in the world. Most of the low cost guns are made in Turkey now with better quality than most, including the SAVAGE/STEVENS 350!

Now, where can I buy one of these?

"Now, where can I buy one of these? "

They are imported by Legact Sports International (www.legacysports.com). The website has a "Find a Retailer" button. Try that.

I stumbled onto mine at a gun show.

Looks like Buds sells them.

I'm not certain, but I think steel.

Here is the description from the website for the Escort MP-P which I have and is pictured above:
"Escort also offers a tactical variation for home and office defense. The MP-P/A TacStock2 model comes in either pump or semi-automatic action. These defense-style shotguns offer the same high performance function and reliability as all other Escort models, with features that have been designed for tactical use. The stock has been designed with a vertical pistol grip for better control, and an extended slide forend with Picatinny rail to provide a solid grip and reliable function from a variety of shooting positions. The stock also has a built-in shell holder that carries two extra rounds. Pistol Grip has cushioned inserts. Sights have been designed for quick target acquisition, using a height adjustable fiber optic front sight in an elevated housing, and a ghost ring rear sight that is fully adjustable. Available in 12 gauge, cylinder bore, 18 inch chrome moly lined barrel chambered for 3 Inch magnum loads."
