i've been cruising the board for a while and find the folks here very generous with your knowledge. i'm looking to put together somthing just to please me...so here goes,
i've fire both the remington and savage and feel that they are very comparable "out of the box". i think the remington is prettier and the savage has more "bang for the buck".
my question has to do with action lenght. i've pretty much settled on the 6.5x55mm swede or the .260. i gather that the savage short action really isn't a true "short action". i guess its a bit longer than it needs to be for the .308 family.
two questions:
1) is it alot longer and heavier than the reminton "short action" or the ruger?
2) if it is, is it long enough to handle a 6.5x55mm round which is usually chambered in a "long action" ?
bear with me, my peanut gallery just chimed in with "ask about the model 7. how does the size of the model 7 action compare with the "short action" model 700?
thank much
