Savage rifles have 3 position safties

I was reading the locked forum and it was incorrectly stated that savage rifles have 2 position safties. They are 3 position.

1. front = fire
2. mid-position = safe on bolt unlocked
3. full back = safe on bolt locked

FWIW, there's been rumors that SAvage will be changing to a 2-position safety ... I heard as a "cost reduction" but haven't confirmed it or seen one like that yet. Just picked up a 12 BVSS-S and a buddy got a 12 BVSS and both are 3-position. I like the 3-way and hope they keep it :D !!

My brand-new 10fp (which I just picked up yesterday), definitely has only a two-position safety.

However, by lifting the bolt handle in conjunction with the safety, it can operate in three different ways -- off; on; trigger locked but bolt unlocked.

I will let you know what mine has at a later time, I bought mine in March of 01, and have never noticed three positions. I don't have it with me right now or I'd be able to post it.

Mine is 3 position and have had it about 6 years. 110 in 30-06 wood furniture

My little bro bought a 110 in .270 this weekend at the gun show and it has a 2 position. It is not new and the wood stock has a camo paint job on it
