Savage Model 99 Lever Rework

Does anyone have experience with tightening the lever on the Savage Model 99.

On my 99, the lever is very sloppy where it fits the receiver tang with the lever bushing. This allows a lot of side to side play that bothers me.

The width between ears of the reciever tang is the problem. Is a washer ever used to take up the gap?

Savage is out of the model "99" repair business. They will refer you to people who can help you. I went through the mill when I brought a older "99" to them for service. They kept the gun for several weeks before calling and informing me that they don't do repairs on the gun. Several yeras back Savage went through a financial reorganization and they sold all their "99" parts inventory.

Any idea who bought the parts inventory.

If anyone should need parts for a ('Richland Arms'-Blissfield, MI) double barrel the part can be obtained from Dick Williams Gun Shop-Saginaw. They bought all Richland parts when they went out.
