I just bought this gun a couple weeks ago and order some weaver #24 scope mounts. Took it out yesterday to sight in. And my scope maxed out the elevation and the gun was still shooting bout 3 inchs low at 40 yards . What do i need to do to fix this problem. I took the scope from another one of my rifles that it worked fine on so i dont think thats the problem. To need get this fixed fast as it is my squirrel hunting rifle

What kind of rings do you have on it? Also, what height rings? What kind of scope is on it? Not a lot of info here to work with. Did the gun come with factory bases for mounting a scope? My immediate suspicion is that it's something you did when putting the bases and rings on the receiver. Without any pics or info on what you used it would just be guessing? FYI...I own a couple of Savage rimfires and they came with Weaver type bases on the gun. I've used them with no problem but I did end up changing them out with an EGW one piece base.

The scope is a traditions performance 6-24 the rings came off of a savage axis and the bases are weaver #24. The gun came drilled and taped but no mounts

Your rings could be your problem. Not knowing what brand they are or anything about them, they could be two different heights or possible Burris Sig Zee with plastic inserts to raise or lower POI that are incorrect for your use. Try some different rings of known origin. If that doesn't fix the problem, get some Burris Signature Zee rings with the plastic inserts to change your POI. Another option is to get a base designed to raise your total adjustment for longer distances. EGW makes one for that purpose.

The rings are what ever savage puts on there axis xp rifles i cant find info on them tho

If it were my gun, and I believed the scope was good, I'd either send it back to Savage for repair/replacement or put an EGW one piece base on it with a built in 20moa rise on it. The purpose of this base is to allow a shooter to be able to raise the scopes POI 20moa so they can shoot at longer distances. In other words, it raises your point of impact before you even adjust anything. If you're shooting low it will raise your point of impact. It should take care of your problem but will not "fix" the gun if it is the problem. I guess if it shoots good groups and you want to keep it this would be your best course of action. Good luck in getting this resolved. http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/EGW_Savage_93_1_5_8_Ejection_Port_Tactical_Picat_p/egw-sav93 158.htm

Putting a 20moa riser wouldnt help it would shoot even lower then it does now

The 20moa riser makes it shoot higher. You said you're shooting low. The purpose of the riser is to make you shoot higher so you can shoot longer distances. You're getting it backwards.
