Savage Axis XP scope question,,,

Not for sure, but, I think it is a Simmons 3x9x40.
I have an Axis in .223 and have a Baraska 3x9x40...so far it is holding just fine. 1x2 inch 10 rnd group at 200 in a 15mph cross wind.
 
A friend got a Savage Axis package on Black Friday last year and it came with one of the cheapo Bushnells. They Savage packages used to mostly come with Simmons 8 Points or Blazers which seemed to be decent enough to get you by until you could afford something better. They seem to be mostly coming with these Bushnells now though, which seem to be a big step down even from the Simmons.

Simmons or Bushnell huh,,,
For a starter rifle I could live with either.

I've never owned a Simmons scope,,,
But I have friends who do,,,
I hear no complaints.

I have a Bushnell Banner 3x9x40,,,
It's served me well for several years now.

A friend is considering buying one from Buds in .223,,,
He just wants a range toy so he can go shooting with our gang.

At only $313.00 it's not a bad buy,,,
And will probably be just fine at our target distances.
