Savage Axis stock(s)

Does anybody know if the Axis barreled action will fit any other Savage stocks besides the factory Axis furniture? What calibers separate the short from the long Axis receivers?
 
I have no idea about the axis stocks, but for the other part of your question - anything based on the unshortened 30-06 would be a long action - 30-06, 270, 280 and so on. Anything based on the .308 length would be a short action - ie. .308, 7mm-08, 243, most 6.5s and so on.
 
I don't think they will fit. The Axis does not have the traditional lug like other receivers have. As I understand it, only recently have aftermarket stock makers even started making stocks for the Axis.
