Savage Axis 308 Problem

My son has a Savage Axis 308 bolt action rifle. We took this to the range and fired 20 round threw it with no problems. A few weeks later we took it to the range and he couldn't get the bolt to eject the spent shell on 4 rounds. He had to pound the bolt back to get the shell out.

He thinks it was the ammo he was using. Sellier & Bellot. I told him I think the rifle should work with any commercial ammo available. He wants to buy some other round and re-test at the range..

Any Ideas?????:confused:
 
Have you cleaned the chamber and bore? If there was some crud left over from the previous shooting session, it might cause a problem.
In my limited experience with S&B ammo, it is hotter or has higher pressure than domestic made ammo. Compared to Federal factory loads, the S&B caused somewhat sticky bolt lift in two Savage 243 rifles. I quit using it for this reason.
