Savage Axis 243 Faulty Safety

Hi guys I own the above rifle and all of a sudden the safety is not working. The gun will still fire even when the safety switch is on. I will be taking it to my local gunsmith to have a look at but thought I'd post on here first in case anyone had any ideas or solutions to fix, cheers
 
Are you sure it says Savage, and not Remington? Lol

Taking it to your smith is a good decision. I would send Savage an email, or call also.
 
If you have not taken it out of the stock, that is an odd one.

Definitely a good idea to gun smith.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a Remington safety. They have always worked fine. It is the triggers that keep failing on Remington. And when the trigger fails is then the safety that is holding back the firing pin. The gun will fire when the safety is moved to the "fire" position. But there is nothing wrong with the safety.

I'm not familiar with that rifle,but there is often a small metal rod that connects the external safety to internal parts. I've seen those become disconnected in the past on other rifles. I'd take it out of the stock and at least give it a look before doing anything else.
