I acquired a Savage Arms Model 1899F Saddle Ring Carbine in .303 (Serial # 136XXX) from my grandfather before he passed a few years ago. I never really had much of a relationship with my grandfather so I never learned anything about the history of this wonderful firearm aside that it had been my great-grandfather's before his and that my father was mad because he didn't get it and I did.
I'm looking for any history that can be drummed up on my prized gem. Here's what I know: I am certain it is a Model 1899F Saddle Ring Carbine even though the saddle ring is missing but I could be wrong. It has a Weaver K2.5 scope mounted on it.
I'm trying to record as much history on my .303 so that when I hand it down to my son or grandson I can provide the history with it.
