Savage Accutrigger?

Some Savages had exceptionally poor triggers. I purchased one of the first Accutrigger models. It took some getting used to... I like it just fine now.

I have 5 rifles with the AccuTrigger. 2 are great, 3 are a little creepy. I understand that some of the creep can be taken out by shimming under the rear of the trigger. Haven't tried it yet but prob will at some point.

I prefer the old adjustable 110 triggers to the accutrigers. I can tune the old ones down to "lower than it needs to be" in about 15 minutes. I also don't like the concept based as much on principles as anything. Dang lawyers.

Is it really worth the extra money to buy a Savage rifle with the "Accutrigger"?

Well, it looks like people do not like it??? That is strange, I have two with the trigger and one without it. I would change the non-accutrigger to an Accutrigger in a heart beat (can not be done) and spending $200 on a Jewel one is not an option.

The only Savages I will buy in the future WILL have Accutriggers on them.

I hope that answers your question.

I have two Model 10's with the accutrigger and love them both. It took some getting use to but now I know when the saftey trigger is bottomed out it only takes about 2 lbs of pressure and the bullet is downrainge.

I have a model 10 with an Accutrigger and I really like it.

I didn't have any problem getting used to it.
It is easy to adjust.
The accutrigger has probably gotten sales for about 9 Savages at our range.
I haven't heard any compliaints and everyone is pleased with the resulting accuracy and repeatability.

If you try to make it a super light trigger and turn it down to the stops, you might have a problem with the pre-travel portion releasing itself, especially if you don't put you finger square on the trigger and tend to pressure the pre-trigger to the side.
The cocking spring is released without the hammer releasing and you have to recock.

Adjustments that don't get to the absolute minimum don't seem to have that problem.

I have removed the center blade, and further refined every Accu-trigger equipped Savage that I own. I DO NOT like the center blade.

As a previous poster mentioned, the older 110 triggers are BETTER if you know how to properly tune them. Notice I did not say adjust.. It takes a little more than that but when done properly an older 110 trigger is heads & tails above an Accu-trigger.

People who have never experienced a good trigger are impressed by the accutrigger. Those who have used a good trigger are not impressed. The accutrigger is just foolproof way to let consumers adjust their trigger down to a certain point without paying a gunsmith who knows what he is doing. The result is a very mediocre trigger with a fairly light weight pull.

It is easy to put a scale on a trigger and measure the pull weight. But pull weight is less important than how the trigger FEELS, how crisp it is, and how consistent it is for each pull. I'd rather have a 4-5 lb trigger that was crisp and broke at exactly the same weight every time than a 2-3 lb. mushy trigger that sometimes broke at 2 lbs and 2.5 lbs the next time.

I have a Savage 93 rimfire with accu trigger, I purchased my 111 without accutrigger and installed an aftermarket trigger. Happy with both.

That pretty much covers my thoughts on the subject. I have owned a Savage with accutrigger, it was ok but I wasn't impressed. Now the M70 Winchesters, there's a nice trigger for you.

They are good but not all that !!!

Is it really worth the extra money to buy a Savage rifle with the "Accutrigger"?
I guess I haven't documented what the cost difference might be. If it's substantial then I'd say not. ....
It is mostly a gimmick, but some like it..
Perhaps to some but not really. There are some noted advantages. Currently, I own two and I do like them. I have mine cranked down to it's min. so as not to have to take that little screw driver with me. .... :)

I routinely perform trigger work on a few rifles so when I got my first Accutrigger, I took it apart to better understand it's operation. What I find is that it is actually a trigger safety or block and has little to do with the fine tuning of the trigger. The factory sets an adjustable light trigger and then installed this trigger block, like some others have done such as Glock. As noted, you can do some additional real trigger work on these or just do without. .... ;)

Be Safe !!!

Some will agree and some won't...

I disagree with it being a gimmick!!!

I own 3 savage rifles with it and just ordered my 4th. I find that it works as intended if the shooter takes the time to learn and use the trigger properly. I have not felt any grit in any of the 3 that I own. The adjustment is straight forward and as accurate as can be expected for a factory trigger. For the little difference in cost, I wouldn't buy a savage without it! :)

To each their own, but I don't like the accu trigger or anyone else's trigger with a 'safety blade' on it. To me, they just feel like a "creepy" trigger.
