Savage 99F 284

I have a model 99F in a 284 caliber S/N 1119410 and was wondering the value of this fine rifle. I tried to send pictures but says the file is to big. I'll try again. The rifle is in good condition bluing is 95% and the stock is checkered and it is also about 95%. Not sure on the year maybe 1964.

Watch Gunbroker.com and see if any come up. Gun values have really gone up and down in the last couple months. Nobody can tell you what a rifle is worth until it sells. I just picked up an early 99 in .308. I was not looking for one, but I could not pass up the price. The market on 99's has been a little soft the last year.

I bought one from a friend in the mid 80's and it had a loose barrel! The gun was beautiful but I noticed a clunk when I rested it up against the wall. I picked it back up and found some play between the barrel and receiver, I was shocked and very disappointed. My friend apologized and refunded my money. In his defense his son had had the gun for some years before that. I never did find out what the exact problem was. I'm sure a 284 is pretty rare and will bring top dollar.

Yes I believe it does have the pressed checkering and the gold trigger.

Values on Savage 99s are HIGHLY regional.

The .284 is one of the more uncommonly seen chamberings, as they were only made for a few years and the round was never particularly popular in any of its platforms.

Here in the east I'd expect to see a really good condition .284 Model 99 going at least $1,500.
