Savage 99 Stock Question

A while back members of this forum helped me with some questions on a Savage model 99 that was left to me by my Dad. With their help I found out that it has the wrong stock on it, it was identified as originally having a pistol grip stock (it has a straight stock but a curved lever). I plan on cleaning it up, sighting it in, putting a new scope on it, and trying to take a deer with it this fall.

Does anyone know where I could get the right stock for it?

I'm not sure of the vintage. TFL members identified it as a 99 G, its serial # is 216539. I couldn't find a website that could give me a year of manufacture, but my computer skills are less than stellar.

Google is a wonderful thing. I found a website (www.savage99.com) that can give you the year of manufacture up to 1950. Mine was manufactured in 1920.
There were also some sections for Marlin and Winchester rifles if anyone needs it.

Pretty sure I saw some on Brownells web site the other day.

May take some searching though. For some reason I always have a hard time pulling up specific items with thier search engine.

Here's another, however I have no experience with this one.

They look pretty nice though. I've been thinking about replacing the wood on mine (model 99c) because it is badly faded from something. (sunlight maybe??)

If it's just faded why not refinish it? If you don't like the way it comes out you're no worse off than you are now.
