Savage 99 question

Was just gifted a Savage 99 rifle from a family member. The rifle is in very good condition as it had been stored over 20 years. Basically forgotten in the attic.

It's in .300 Savage caliber, with a 24" barrel, and has a Williams peep sight instead of what I believe is/was the standard buckhorn rear sight. Here comes the question(s);

Was this sight an original (option) or an after market item? Second, magazine capacity. I'm looking for an owners manual right now, but I gather it's a rotary magazine. How many rounds? I assume 5?

Can't wait to clean it up and try it out. Much appreciated.

No, the Williams sight was not an option, it is an aftermarket installation.

Yes, magazine capacity is 5 rounds.

A Williams receiver sight was an aftermarket installation.
Long ago, Lyman peep sights were factory options, but never a Williams that I know of.

Thanks to all, I'll post some pix when I get it cleaned up a bit. I'm looking at some web sites for the 99 and looking for some ammo to get this shooter shooting. By the way, anyone know where I can get an original rear sight?

Thats a great rifle. Ive got one that I should use more than I do. I wish Savage would bring them back into production.
